I missed the run on Friday eve. I decided to swap the days around. So I rested on Friday and decided to run on Saturday instead. Saturday run was very hard - wore the wrong clothes, my legs were heavy and I just couldn't get going at all!! My mind was on the planned longish run in the Moel Famau hills on Sunday. I still managed 5 miles in average pace thou :-)

The run on Sunday was fantastic. I felt really strong on the hills and recovered well on the flats. We ran for 1 hour and 47 minutes (around 11-12 miles). There was very little wind on the summits and it was quite warm too. Surprisingly I didn't need fluids or food whilst running. I think the giant pizza the night before probably helped me.

So far my legs arn't giving me to much trouble either!

Moel Famau route - This isn't very accurate as we drifted on to trails that didn't appear on Google maps.

I just bought these bad boys! Asics Gel Kayano 15. I'm testing them later and I can't wait. Running 6 miles tonight. Haven't been out running for a while. My old trainers were putting me off.

Walked about 10 miles yesterday up Tryfan in Snowdonia, Wales. Horrendous weather. 2 people got lost and found us, lucky us. We helped them out. Isn't it crazy how people folow people on mountains? - we could of lead them into real trouble. I smashed my head on a rock whils topping out of a chimney - bloody hurt!!

I had an interview for works staff news and possibly the local newspaper today. My running vest also arrived from the National Autistic Society - sexy purple! Oh and running belt also arrived from ebay, so no more excuses getting out for the longer runs!

Thursday feeling...

Feeling rather achy today. Squat session in the gym last night on top of 90mins of football.
Today is a rest day - going to take it easy tonight, maybe 9 holes of Golf. I feel anytime on my feet is valuable for marathon training.

Have to consider gym sessions and football as the miles increase :-S

Nice 3 mile run tomorrow (before work) - got my route and pace worked out. Aiming for 7:20 mile pace!

Training schedule - part 1

Here is my training schedule for the next 7 weeks. Part 2 to follow.

Welcome

Welcome to my training blog. Over the next 13 weeks I will be training for 2 of the toughest road marathons in the UK and Europe.

On the 20th of September I will be running the Great Langdale Marathon in the Lake District.
'Crinkle crags to the left of them, Langdale Pikes to the right of them, into the valley ran the 600!'

Then 4 weeks later on the 24th October I will be undertaking the hardest road marathon in Europe, the Snowdonia Marathon. This involves a distance of 26.2 miles and is run on a demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon, Wales and England's highest peak. I ran this race last year in a time of 4 hours and 20 minutes - My target for this year is 3 hours 30 minutes.

I will be running for the National Autistic Society. Please sponsor me at http://www.justgiving.com/andrewmilton
